† The Pet Cross †

"Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." [1 John 4: 7b]

Hold on...
  • When a pet dies, what’s next?

This is a great question, but the truth is that nobody really knows.

    Except God.

But we can wonder. We can hope. We can believe for the best.

To many people, a pet’s love can be their most tangible experience to approximate what it’s like to experience God’s love.

For example, Jesus said He’ll never leave us nor forsake us.

Pets are like that too. They are always glad to see us. Always ready and willing to cheer us up. We are always the most important thing to them.

How could somebody or something who loves us so unconditionally, who forgives us like God forgives us—don’t you just wonder how pets could not be in heaven?

  • Do pets go to heaven?

The truth is nobody knows if pets are in heaven--except people who have died and are now in heaven.

    And God, of course.

The only way to know for sure if your pet is in heaven is to go there yourself and find out.

While death is an absolute part of life, death does not have to be the end of life for people who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ for their eternal salvation.

It is for this reason that The PetCross® is now available, to teach the truth of Jesus to those left behind by the death of a pet.

Jesus promised believers eternal life in him, not death.

  • There is eternal life in Jesus Christ.

A pet that’s died still has one more incredble gift of love to give.

While death can be traumatic, it can also be an invaluable opportunity to learn the most important truth about life.

    And life after death.

This is especially true for children.

For kids, pets are very often their most-trusted, most-loved, and most-constant companions. The faithful nature of pets can be a bridge to teach children about the even greater and most-faithful-of-all nature of God.

God conquered death for us through the sacrificial death of his son Jesus on the cross.

    Jesus then resurrected.

He came back to life, conquering death—for all time and for all people.

We can have eternal life in Jesus Christ too if we believe in him. This is an easy concept for children to grasp, and the death of a pet can certainly open the door to teach them this truth.

There’s no greater source of comfort during bereavement than knowing death is not final, that eternal life exists in Jesus Christ.

God made dogs and cats warm and furry. He made them to love us unconditionally. He made them to care more about us than they do about themselves. They are always there for us, caring and protecting us.

Even the tiniest Chihuahua will bark and growl like the largest and fiercest Great Dane at the slightest suspicion of an intruder.

Cats will cuddle up and purr with us during our darkest moods. While dogs can’t purr, if we’ve got the blues, they’ll bring us their favorite toy, ready to play and cheer us up.

The self-sacrificial nature of pets is a direct reminder to us of the sacrificial act God made on our behalf through the death of his son Jesus on the cross.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [John 3:16]

The PetCross® can become your statement of belief in eternal life through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The death of a pet may be the most natural experience to explain this essential truth. Take advantage of this important time.

Hammer shadowed
All you need to install the PetCross® is a hammer. Each cross is handcut from dimensional lumber into a length of about 36 inches. Just press the point into the ground, then place a piece of wood on top of the cross to protect the cross from splitting while hammering.

Every PetCross® is cut to a tapered point that’s designed to make placement simple, easy, and quick. There’s nothing complicated about it. What’s left is a simple cross to stand and make a bold statement of your faith and belief.

Even when death occurs at the vet’s office, can you really just dispose of the remains of your loved one like yesterday’s trash? For children, they especially need to be active participants in the final goodbye.
